Archbishop Atallah Hanna extends his heartfelt condolences to Syria over the passing away of al-Moallem
OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, (ST)- The Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebestia Atallah Hanna has expressed his heartfelt condolences to Syria, its people and leadership, on the passing away of WalidAl-Moallem, the Syrian Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
In a statement on Tuesday, Archbishop Hanna stressed that Al-Moallem was a distinguished national figure known for his solid stances and patriotism in defense of Syria, especially in the midst of the unprecedented global conspiracy that targeted Syria in recent years with the aim of undermining its unity and strength. He added that this conspiracy has failed thanks to the wise leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad and the steadfastness of the Syrian people and army.
He went on to say that he met with Al-Moallem several times during his visits to Syria and during international conferences and forums on al-Quds, Palestine and Syria.
“He was such a prominent politician with solid stances. He strongly adhered to national principles, defended his homeland, Syria, rejected the occupation and the conspiracy facing his country and called for an end to the Zionist occupation of the Syrian Arab Golan. He also defended Palestine in different forums,” Archbishop Hanna affirmed. He pointed out that the death of Al-Moallem is a loss for Syria, for Palestine and for all freedom-loving peoples in the Arab region.
