Russian analysts: International Conference on Syrian Refugees indicates Syria’s steady steps towards reconstruction, peaceful life

MOSCOW, (ST)- The International Conference on the Return of Syrian Refugees, recently held in Damascus, was very important as it indicated that Syria is proceeding steadily towards reconstruction, peaceful life and refugees return, Russian analysts have underscored.

Boris Dolgov, a senior researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Russian Institute of Oriental Studies, told SANA correspondent in Moscow that the problems that Syria needs to address are gradually being solved and that the Syrian government is sparing no effort to create a suitable environment for the return of the Syrian refugees, particularly after most of the Syrian territories have been liberated from terrorism.

He pointed out that the United States and its allies are responsible for the critical situation in Syria and for the departure of the Syrians from their country.

He stressed that the non-participation of the United States in the conference proves the double standards policy practiced by Washington towards Syria, as it imposes coercive measures on the Syrian people while claiming that it protects democracy and human rights in the country.

On his part, Yuri Zenin, another senior researcher at the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Academy of International Relations, said that the Syrian refugees issue has been subjected to politicization since the beginning of the crisis in Syria and it has been turned into a tool for interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

The conference has specified the tasks that should be done by the international community to alleviate the burdens that will be shouldered by Syria as a result of the return of the Syrian refugees to their permanent residence places.
