Syria and Russia sign agreement for cooperation in the educational domain

Damascus (ST): The Ministries of Education in Syria and Russia have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of  public and vocational secondary school education that aims at enhancing cordial relations and strong educational ties linking the two states. 

The agreement was signed by assistant minister of education Dr. Abdul Hakim al-Hammad and deputy Russian education minister Dmitry Glushko.

According to the agreement, the two sides will work for developing direct communications between educational and vocational institutes in the two states and offer the support required to facilitate such cooperation.

 

In a statement he made following the signature ceremony, Minister of Education Darem Tabba’a said that the agreement contributes to meet the requirements of the educational process   and the exchange of visits so that the young generation would be directly in touch with the solid Syrian Russian relations in appreciation of the great efforts exerted by Russia in contribution to the restoration of security and  stability to Syria.  

In turn, Glushko said that Russia would help Syria through constructing new schools and rehabilitating the schools which were destroyed by terrorism to absorb more students, noting that training courses would be held for Syrian teachers and administrative staff in Russia.   

The Ministry of Housing and Public Works also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Ministry of Construction and Housing Services in the field of developing infrastructure.
