Mansour renews call on international community to stop the Israeli occupation crimes against the Palestinians
NEW YORK, (ST)- Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Riad Mansour has called on the international community, including the Security Council, to put an end to the incessant crimes of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and to take decisive measures to force the occupation authorities to abide by the international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, including Resolution No. 2334 which calls for an immediate cessation of settlement activities.
In a statement on Tuesday, Mansour said that the failure of the international community to hold the occupation authorities accountable for their violations encourages them to commit more crimes, including house demolition, land seizure, ethnic cleansing, arrests and killings. He made note of the martyrdom of the 18 years old Palestinian boy Amer Abdul Rahim after the occupation forces hit him with their rifle butts days ago.
Mansour went on to say that the occupation authorities have demolished entire residential communities in Khirbet Homsa al-Buqi’a in the northern Jordan Valley, which led to the displacement of dozens of Palestinians, including 41 children, leaving them homeless and more vulnerable, particularly under the Corona epidemic. He indicated that the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) affirmed in its latest report that Israel demolished 76 homes in Khirbet Homsa al-Buqi’a, making it the largest forced displacement in years.
The Palestinian diplomat also said that under the protection of the occupation forces, the Israeli settlers have escalated their attacks on the Palestinians and their private properties and agricultural crops with the aim of harassing and displacing them in order to impose a fait accompli and change the demographic composition of occupied al-Quds and the rest of the West Bank.
He reiterated that Israel should immediately halt its house demolition crimes and illegal practices towards the Palestinians and comply with the obligations of the international law.
