DAMASCUS (ST)- The International Conference on the Return of Syrian Refugees is to kick off on Wednesday at the Conferences Palace in Damascus to discuss ways of putting an end to the suffering of the refugees and to facilitating their return home.
Several countries will take part in the meetings of the two-day event that will deal with the situation in Syria, with the obstacles that hinder the refugees return and with creating appropriate conditions for this return.
The conference is to discuss humanitarian aid, infrastructure restoration and cooperation between scientific and educational organizations, in addition to the rebuilding the infrastructure of the energy sector in Syria in the post-war period.
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affair and Expatriates Ayman Sousan said on Monday that Syria has invited all countries to the conference except Turkey, given that nothing positive is expected from Erdogan’s regime, the main supporter of terrorist organizations in Syria.
He pointed out that some states were subjected to pressure in order not to take part in the conference.
Sousan indicated that China, Russia, Iran, Lebanon, the UAE, Pakistan and Oman are among the participating countries and the United Nations will be an observer.
