ALGIERS –On behalf of President Bashar Al-Assad, the Syrian Ambassador to Algeria Numeir Wahib Al-Ghanim on Friday offered condolences over the death of the great Algerian freedom fighter Lakhdar Bouregaa, a veteran of Algeria’s war of Independence, at his home in the Algerian capital.
The ambassador extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late veteran and to the Algerian people the condolences of President Al-Assad. He said that “Bouregaa was a dear friend to the Syrian people and a strong supporter of Syria’s rightful and resistant stances. He was a friend who hasn’t been dissuaded by time or challenges from saying the truth even in the darkest circumstances. He devoted his lifetime to struggle for the independence of his country.”
“Syria appreciates the supportive stances of the freedom fighter Bouregaa for Arab causes and for Syria in the confrontation of a terrorist war backed by takfiri forces and imperialist countries known of their hostility to the independence of states and the freedom of peoples,” al-Ghanim added, affirming that Syria will always remember Bouregaa for his national stances.
The family of the late veteran, on their part, highly appreciated President Al-Assad’s noble gesture that expressed his true heartfelt emotions toward Bouregaa, who loved Syria, as a leadership and people.
