Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri has reiterated that the crisis in Syria must be solved in a political way based on respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The minister’s remarks came during his meeting with the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pederson.
Shukri discussed with Pederson the ways of pushing forward the political settlement to solve the crisis in Syria and Egypt’s role in this regard, according to the spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmad Hafez.
The Egyptian Minister asserted that his country rejects any foreign attempt to impose a demographic change in Syria. He also pointed out that political efforts must be made in parallel with the continuity of fighting terrorist groups.
On his part, Pederson talked about his vision to resolve the crisis in Syria, hoping to go ahead with coordination with Cairo in this regard.
