More Iranian Humanitarian Aid to Syria

DAMASCUS,(ST)_The Syrian ministry of health today received 15 ambulances  as a gift from the people of Iran to the Syrian people .

Following  a signing  ceremony  of an agreement provided handing over the ambulances to the Syrian side, the minister of Health Dr. Saad al-Nayef said the ambulances will be distributed immediately on six provinces, where  the ambulance system  were  greatly damaged.

The Minister appreciated extensive efforts and support  provided  by Iran to meet different health needs in Syria , whereas , sides  hostile to Syria, especially the EU  and the US  impose  unfair economic and banking sanctions  that  affected all service sectors, including the health sector, a matter which had  negative impact on the lives of citizens and patients in particular.

He added that new ambulances are provided   in parallel with the ministry ‘s ongoing efforts  for the rehabilitation and strengthening of ambulance services in collaboration with international humanitarian and health organizations and  friendly countries, especially Iran.

Representative of the Iranian embassy in Damascus  Seyed Reza Kazemi Mohammadi stressed  his country’s continued support for the Syrian government and people, calling on countries “that call themselves friends of Syria to support the humanitarian conditions  in it  and stop sending arms to terrorists,” hoping  Syria  to get out of the crisis stronger than before.

In August , 2012, the Ministry of Health received from Iran, a shipment of equipment, tools , modern medical  stuffs and 15 ambulance worth  USD  1.2  million and in December of the same year,   20 fully equipped  ambulances in  support  and  service of  affected  hospitals and  aid system  in Syria.
