Palestinian detainee and hunger striker Maher al-Akhras insists on continuing his strike until either freedom or martyrdom
OCCUPIED AL-QUDS- Palestinian administrative detainee in the Israeli occupation entity Maher al-Akhras is reported to be in critical condition after 92 days of hunger strike demanding his freedom, Wafa News Agency reported on Monday, citing his attorney and family members.
Al-Akhras, 49, insists on continuing his strike until either freedom or martyrdom.
He is reported to have difficulty in his vision, inability to stand and pain all over his body and there is concern that his vital organs may stop functioning as he refuses to take food supplements.
Al-Akhras, from the Palestinian Jenin area in the north of the West Bank, was detained on July 27 and slammed with a four-month administrative detention order. He immediately went on hunger strike in protest against his illegal imprisonment.
