Lavrov urges the Turkish regime to ensure ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on the Turkish regime to work  to ensure a ceasefire in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh province and to start serious negotiations on settling the crisis there.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Armenia confirmed yesterday that it has irrefutable evidence proving the participation of the Turkish regime’s Special Forces in the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Russian Today website quoted Lavrov as saying to journalists on Monday that Moscow is trying to convince the Turks of supporting this path (ceasefire and negotiation). He reaffirmed Russia’s opposition to any military solution in the province and its call on all external parties to refrain from pushing towards the military scenario there.

The situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh province witnessed a sudden military escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan on September 27. The two countries are exchanging accusations about the reasons for this escalation.
