President al-Assad refers bill of 2021 general state budget to Parliament

President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday referred the bill of the general state budget for the 2021 fiscal year to Parliament [People’s Assembly].
 
The bill, which was discussed by the Cabinet last Tuesday, set the budget at SYP 8,500 billion, compared to 4,000 billion for the 2020 budget.
 
The budget is distributed as follows: SYP 7,000 billion for running expenditures, SYP 1,500 billion for investment expenditures, SYP 3,500 billion allocated for social support, SYP 50 billion for the agricultural production support fund and SYP 50 billion for social aid and rural women’s development fund.
