Turkish regime exacerbates conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh to control the gas supply lines to Europe: Armenian PM

YEREVAN/BAKU, (ST)- The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Vovayi Pashinyan has stressed that the Turkish regime aims at exacerbating the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh province in order to control the gas supply lines to Europe and not to liberate the Azerbaijani lands as the officials of this regime claim.

Reaching an agreement on an acceptable legal status for the Karabakh region was not possible and all attempts to do so were exhausted, Pashinyan said on his facebook account on Monday, pointing out that the last chance was available in 2011 during a summit between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia that concluded without reaching a deal on the basic principles of the legal status of the Karabakh province.

Last Tuesday, Pashinyan said that the Turkish regime has impeded a ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh through inciting more fighting.

In a statement yesterday, Pashinyan called on the United States and France to support the Russian efforts to attain stability in the disputed province.

On the other hand, the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that the Azerbaijani forces have controlled 13 new villages in Karabakh.

The Armenian and Azerbaijani sides are trading accusations of breaking the recently reached humanitarian truce.
