Sabbagh: The coercive Western measures imposed on Syria and Cuba are aimed at undermining their independent decision

On October 12, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh met with Cuban Ambassador in Damascus Miguel Porto Parga.

Sabbagh stressed the importance of developing parliamentary relations and exchanging experiences and visits between members of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) in Syria and the National Assembly for People’s Power in Cuba.

Sabbagh referred to the depth and strength of the historical relations between the two friendly countries.

Sabbagh spoke about the unilateral coercive Western measures imposed on the Syrian and Cuban peoples aimed at breaking their will and undermining their independent decision.

Sabbagh noted the danger of the false slogans that the United States raises under the names of combating terrorism and promoting democracy with the aim of stealing peoples’ wealth, which it does by stealing Syrian oil and wheat.

For his part, Ambassador Parga expressed his country’s support for the leadership, army and people of Syria in the face of terrorism and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on it.

The Cuban ambassador indicated that he would continue working to strengthen ties between his country and Syria, stressing that no one could undermine the unified Syrian-Cuban position on various issues.

Sabbagh received from Ambassador Parga a letter from the Speaker of the National Assembly for People’s Power in Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, in which he expressed Cuba’s solidarity with Syria in the face of terrorism.
