“For Syria… Damascus”, an exhibition for students of architecture faculty opens at Damascus University

Damascus (ST): Under the auspices of Vice President Dr. Najah al-Attar, the faculty of architecture, Damascus University organized an exhibition under the title ” For Syria.. Damascus”.

The exhibits includes projects for 200 students about the historical buildings and sites in Old Damascus.

The one-week exhibition, currently on display at Reda Sa’ed Hall for Conferences, aims at preserving the spiritual and social environment of Old Damascus.

The supervisor of the exhibition, Dr. Abeer Arqawimade a speech in which she affirmed the necessity of putting forward a national work plan with the participation of all ministries and concerned authorities to preserve Old Damascus and protect its historical buildings.

 

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, who represented Dr. al-Attar in the opening  of the event,  expressed high appreciation for the efforts exerted by the students and teachers of the faculty of architecture to make the event a success.

In turn, Damascus University Rector Dr. Mohammad Maher Qabaqibi said that the event represents a real embodiment of the slogan: “Linking the University with Society”.

Dean of the Faculty of Architectural Engineering Dr. Okba Fakoush said that the event casts light the projects being carried out in Old Damascus and the necessity of preserving its time-old heritage.
