Today marks the 47th anniversary of the October Liberation War which witnessed the humiliating defeat of the Israeli enemy in front of the Syrian Arab Army. The war, led by late leader Hafez Al-Assad in 1973, aimed to liberate the occupied Arab lands and restore the usurped Arab rights. It was the first war in the Arab-Zionist conflict that revived optimism after the Naksa in June 1967 and proved that Syria is the forefront in defense of the existence and future of the Arab nation.
After its defeat, the Israeli enemy tried to steal the Syrian Army’s victory in the October war by occupying South Lebanon in 1982, but the Syrian Arab army confronted this aggression and repelled it, offering many sacrifices and then it supported the Lebanese Resistance until it managed to expel the Israeli occupation forces and liberate south Lebanon in the year 2000.
Forty seven years have passed since the October War during which the heroes of the Syrian Army, who achieved victory in 1973, lighted the path of their sons and grandsons in the Syrian army to continue the struggle against the terrorist tools of the Israeli enemy in an all out war on terrorism in which they have managed to achieve major victories over the terrorist organizations countrywide, thereby restoring security and stability to most parts of Syria.
The anniversary of the October Liberation war is being celebrated by the Syrians nationwide as it is the war that destroyed the legend of the “invincible army” of the enemy.
The People’s Assembly said in a statement that the anniversary of the October Liberation war comes while the Syrian Arab Army is achieving successive victories over terrorist groups that have been trying for more than nine years to destroy and undermine Syria to serve the agendas of their operators.
A number of Syrian army officers and soldiers expressed their pride in the victories achieved by their predecessors in October War, stressing that they will continue to follow the same path of heroism and struggle to defend the country’s dignity and sovereignty against terrorists and enemies’ schemes.
They affirmed that Syria’s current war on terrorism is not less important than the October Liberation War, as it is a war against proxies and terrorists tools that aim at implementing the agendas of the Zionist entity.
In Qamishli countryside, a rally was held today in Jilbarat village marking the October Liberation War Anniversary.
