On October 4, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry reaffirmed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria and to confront terrorist organizations and their supporters.
“Shukry informed the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, during a telephone call, of Egypt’s supportive position in resolving the crisis in Syria in a way that preserves its unity and the independence of its national decision,” Al-Youm Al-Masrywebsite quoted a spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Hafez, as saying.
“Egypt expressed the necessity of decisively confronting terrorist organizations and extremists and their supporters from the regional parties,” Hafiz said.
For his part, Pederson indicated the need to support efforts to move the political process.
