Russian TV channel films documentary depicting Daesh devastation of archaeological monuments in Palmyra

Palmyra (ST): The Russian Zvezda TV channel has prepared a special TV program about the ancient city of Palmyra. The program documents the destruction caused to the archaeological sites because of the systematic attacks of “Daesh” terrorist organization.

The documentary, which was filmed yesterday, concentrated on the residential city and the return of life to normal after its liberation from “Daesh” by the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army.

The program highlighted the life of the martyr archaeologist Khaled Asa’ad, who was murdered by terrorists on August 18, 2015, after his rejection to tell the secrets and location of the ancient city’s archaeological treasures and artifacts.

Assistant Director of the Program, Russian Journalist Ilyana Grinovich, expressed her happiness in visiting Palmyra and deep thanks for the facilitations provided by the concerned authorities to ensure the success of the documentary.

Ilyana said “I was very sad when I saw the archaeological monuments that “Daesh” terrorist organization had attacked, and I found no explanation for that other than the organization’s attempt to wipe out human civilization.”She expressed hope that she would visit the city once again and see the archaeological monuments renovated, and this requires participation from all international archaeological organizations.
