China’s Ambassador in Damascus Feng Biao has asserted his country’s keenness on enhancing cooperation and friendship relations with Syria in all fields.
He told the Syrian News Agency (SANA) on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China that Beijing will go ahead with offering help to Damascus, strengthening scientific cooperation that comes within the framework of “The Belt and Road Initiative” and playing a constructive and positive role in reaching a solution to the crisis in Syria.
“China has adopted a fair stance towards the crisis in Syria and has affirmed the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and independence,” the ambassador said, referring to the fact that the solution of the crisis in Syria could be reached through a comprehensive political process led by Syrians without any foreign intervention.
He pointed out the Syria has supported China in files related to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taiwan, UNSC reform and other topics that are important for China and its people.
“The deep-rooted relations between China and Syria manifested itself in cooperation in fighting Coronavirus as the two countries raised the slogan “Together against Coronavirus pandemic”,” Biao stated.
He in addition referred to the fact that value of commercial exchange hit $1.31 billion in 2019.
The ambassador stressed that China abides by pluralism and it defends the international system based on international law and the key role of UN international affairs.
