Vershinin and Pedersen discuss efforts being exerted to resolve the crisis in Syria

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin has talked by telephone with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The officials discussed in details the ways of reaching a long-term political settlement for the crisis in Syria and the continuity of the work of the Syrian constitutional committee in Geneva in accordance with rules upon which all concerned parties have agreed.

They also asserted the importance of adherence to the political process under UN resolution No. 2254.
