Syria, Crimea to discuss means of joint cooperation

The President of the Russian Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov affirmed his country’s endeavor to develop commercial partnership programs with Syria.

During his meeting in Simferopol, the Syrian economic delegation headed by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil said that, “Crimean companies are ready to increase relations with the Syrian side, and we have moved forward together to develop the Crimean Syrian trade partnership, especially the issue of the shipping company.”

The Crimean president added that, “we are grateful to Syria for all the procedures for responding to our requests and facilitating the means for cooperation between the two countries.

“Our delegations went more than once to Syria and participated in forums, committees and exhibitions, and they had as a result of their visits a promising action plans,” President Aksyonov added

In turn, Minister Al-Khalil stressed that, the mutual visits constitute very important steps. He expressed his hope for more cooperation and continuous visits by representatives of business circles and the private sector from the two countries until they reach agreements between them, referring the visit of Crimean officials to the Damascus International Fair in its last session.

Minister Al-Khalil pointed out that the aim of the Syrian delegation’s visit is to outline future work plans between the two sides and to identify and overcome problematic issues.

The Syrian economic delegation arrived yesterday on an official visit to the Republic of Crimea to hold talks on the prospects for joint cooperation between Syria and Crimea.

The permanent representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian presidency, Georgy Muradov said that, “the Syrian delegation will participate in the first meeting of the joint Russian-Syrian working group on trade and economic cooperation.”

It should be noted that Syria and the Russian Republic of Crimea signed in 2019 an agreement to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries within the activities of the 61st Damascus International Fair in the fields of establishing a trading place and a shipping company for the private sector and exchanging participations in exhibitions.
