805 died, 1131 injured, 105 buildings collapsed, 900 others completly damaged in Lattakia due to earthquake: Governor

The Governor of Lattakia province Amer Hilal has stated that the earthquake that hit Syria recently has killed 805 people and injured 1131 others in Lattakia.

He told SANA that 105 buildings were collapsed, 900 others were completely damaged, while 3097 need reinforcement and 11198 need restoration due to the earthquake.

He added that the governorate formed tens of committees to assess the structural condition of 1200 schools in the province.

The governorate also opened 29 temporary shelter centers which is currently hosting 2267 affected families, noting coordination with all concerned parties to secure the needs of these families, Hilal poined out.

Next week, the governor said, the governorate will start implementing a plan to secure alternative housing to the affected families in the cities of Jableh and Lattakia.
