80 people were injured as a result of a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that struck western Afghanistan on Wednesday morning.
The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth, and its epicenter was about 29 kilometers north of the city of Herat.
“80 people were injured as a result of the earthquake, most of them from the Rabat Sangi area”. Xinhua news agency quoted a doctor at a local hospital as saying.
A short time later, seismic experts announced that an earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale had been recorded in the west of the country as well.
Two earthquakes, one with a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale, struck western Afghanistan last Saturday, killing more than two thousand people and causing significant material damage.
