80,000 people received the vaccine against Corona in the national campaign

Damascus (ST): About 80,000 people have received the Corona vaccine so far as part of the national campaign launched by the Ministry of Health on the fifth of this September and will continue until the sixteenth of it, with more than 400 approved centers and mobile teams in various governorates.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabash, said in a statement to reporters after a tour on a number of approved centers for the vaccine in Damascus and its countryside that the ministry had identified 210 approved centers within health centers and 41 hospitals, in addition to 200 mobile teams distributed in most governorates, especially in the northern and northeastern regions and hard-to-reach places to give the vaccine.

 Dr. Al-Ghabash stressed the strictness of the issue of preserving the vaccine and providing it safely and within typical conditions, pointing out that more than 80,000 people have been vaccinated so far during the campaign, with the follow-up to the vaccination of teachers and workers in a number of institutions whose employees have direct contact with the auditors.

The Minister of Health indicated that the campaign is currently witnessing a high turnout and aims to raise community awareness of the importance of receiving the vaccine, especially since “the demand for it at the beginning was “shy”. He noted that the ministry will evaluate the campaign and study the possibility of its continuation.

The Director of the Rehabilitation Ward, Ambulance and Emergency in the Ministry, Dr. Tawfiq Hassa, explained that the campaign aims to reach a wide segment of society, especially with an increase in the number of injuries, pointing out that the number of vaccine recipients in the hospital  ranges between 800 and 1,000 people per day, on average, with different types of vaccine.

Director of Abu Dhar Al-Ghafari Health Center, Dr. Hazar Al-Miqdad, stated that anyone from the age of 18 and over can receive the vaccine, except for pregnant and lactating women, those who have previous allergies and those with severe diseases, underlining the importance of vaccination because it prevents severe complications of the virus and reduces hospital admissions.

The head of the third health district in the Mezzeh area, Dr. Maha Al-Bahra, confirmed that the turnout is very good, and the center receives approximately 500 to 600 visitors daily.
