The session’s agenda includes topics related to the work of the World Health Organization (WHO), preparedness and response to health emergencies in the world, reviewing and updating the Global Peace Initiative, polio and its eradication, tuberculosis and smallpox, issues of comprehensive health coverage, and other health topics.

The Syrian delegation includes the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghabbash, the Permanent Representative of Syria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Haider Ali Ahmed, and the Minister Counselor to the Permanent Mission of Syria to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Reem Jabr.

It is noteworthy that the WHA is the decision-making body of the organization, as its work is attended by delegations from all its member states, and its agenda, prepared by the Executive Council, focuses on specific topics in the field of health.
