73 US lawmakers call for a reversal of Trump’s decisions on Israeli settlements

Washington (ST):  Dozens of US lawmakers from the Democratic Party called on the administration of President Joe Biden to take “serious steps” to reverse the decisions taken by his predecessor, Donald Trump, in which he considered the settlement activities carried out by the Israeli occupation entity in the occupied Palestinian territories as “legal.”

The American “Daily Political Press” website stated that 73 members of the US House of Representatives, including high-ranking leaders, sent a letter to Biden saying that the administration should make absolutely clear that the settlements violate international law by reissuing relevant guidance and directives from the US Department of State to achieve this end.

In their letter, the representatives stressed the need for all official US documents and communications to permanently refer to the status of the West Bank and Gaza Strip as occupied territories.

Among the signatories of the letter are seven heads of committees in the House of Representatives.
