73 members of the Libyan State Council reject MoU signed by Libyan interim government with Turkish regime on oil

73 members of the Libyan Council of State have announced their rejection of the interim national unity government’s decision to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Turkish regime on oil and gas.

In a statement published by Libyan media outlets, the council members said that signing such ambiguous MoUs at this period and under the current division in the political situation, aims at imposing a fait accompli. They expressed their rejection of the MoU, describing it as “political opportunism by the Turkish regime”.

The statement clarified that signing the memorandum will pose an obstacle ( by Turkey) in  the face of Libya’s greater national interests and all sincere national attempts to reach an agreement among the Libyans that aims at restoring the state and its national decision.

The council called on the Libyan parliament, the presidential council and all the political and social forces in Libya to reject what they called “political absurdity that leads to stealing national decision”.
