Marking Martyrs’ Day, the governorate of Damascus Countryside on Saturday honored 705 families of martyrs within a ceremony held at the Conferences Palace in Damascus.
The ceremony also included artistic activities and poetry reading glorifying the values of martyrdom.
Several martyrs’ families expressed their pride in the martyrdom of their sons, stressing that the martyrs will continue to be a beacon for the coming generations.
Honoring the families of the martyrs is a good gesture that reflects the state’s support for martyrs’ families and its care for their situation, according to members of some families who also stressed that victory was made possible thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs.
Children of some martyrs affirmed that they will continue to follow the footsteps of their fathers and will never give up their hope in rebuilding Syria.
In a statement during the honoring ceremony, Major General Bassam Barri, Director of the Affairs of the Martyrs, the Wounded and the Missing, said that communicating with the martyrs’ families is a great honor, pointing out that the martyrs will continue to be alive in the conscience and memory of all the Syrians.
