700 wanted persons and gunmen from Daraa surrender

DARAA,(ST)_Well over 700 wanted persons and gunmen from Daraa province have turned themselves in to the competent authorities for regularizing their situations in accordance with the national reconciliation process.

The official news agency (SANA) reported today that 250 wanted persons plus 450 gunmen turned themselves in and surrendered rockets, BKC guns, 332 rifles, sniper rifles and ammunitions to the competent authorities during an activity held in the presence of peoples and officials and reconciliation committees in Daraa province.   

It added that the competent authorities regularized situations of 43 detainees with the framework of the national reconciliation.

Daraa Governor Mohammad Khaled al-Hannos declared that the activity reflects the victories of the Syrian Arab army in combatting terrorist organizations in the province.

On his part, Head of the Military Security Branch Brigadier-General Wafiq Nasser said that schools in Sheikh Miskin town and roads leading to Kafer Shames town will be opened within the frame work of the national reconciliation.

“Schools and water wells in Sida town will be rehabilitated and the people of al-Faqe’a town will return to their homes soon,” he confirmed.

Field sources told SANA that 2600-3000 gunmen from Daraa threw their weapons and fled abroad through Turkish border after Jordan closed its border before them after their failure in what they called the ‘storm of the south’ .
