Syria will take part in the Mediterranean Games, scheduled to kick off in the Algerian city of Oran on June 25th, 2022, in seven games namely boxing, judo, wrestling, athletics, gymnastics, weightlifting and equestrian.
During a meeting for the Syrian sport mission to the Mediterranean Games, Head of General Sports Federation Firas Mualla said that he is confident that the participating Syrian teams will compete strongly to achieve advanced positions that will constitute a source of honor to the Syrian sport which has maintained strong presence at international tournaments.
In a statement to SANA, Mualla said “our players are ready for participating in the Mediterranean Games. They received intensive training to raise their skills,” pointing out that the players’ participation in these games aim at gaining more experience.
“Our players do not lack experience that enables them to compete strongly and achieve gold medals in this huge continental sporting event”, he added.
According to Mualla, the participating mission includes distinguished players, such as weightlifter Maan As’ad, who won a bronze medal at Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, and high jumper Majd Eddin Ghazal, who won a gold medal in the last edition of the Mediterranean Games.
