600 persons from restive area complete military training to support Syrian army

Around 600 persons from the eastern Ghouta of Damascus have completed a military training course in Damascus countryside in order to take part in defending the homeland alongside the Syrian army.

Those persons, who voluntary joined the course of self-protection, will protect towns and governmental institutes to which peace and stability restored in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus, the Governor of Damascus Countryside Hussein Makhlouf said during the graduation ceremony of the 8th batch of self-protection groups on Sunday.

He urged the graduates to fulfill their duties and to protect Syria from the mercenaries [terrorists] who came from all over the world with the support of the world evil forces.

On his part, Secretary-General of the Damascus Countryside Governorate’s Council Ahmad Zaiton said that the total number of graduates from the courses in Damascus countryside reached up to 5800.

The graduates were trained on combat skills, setting up checkpoints, storming terrorists’ sites and evacuation of wounded from battlefields. 

A 60-year-old man, Haitham Mansour, said:  “I joined the self-protection course to support the Syrian army in defeating the terrorist groups that destroyed our country, killed our children, displaced our families and looted our farms.” 

Another graduate, Kamal al-Jazzar, affirmed that he joined the military course to tell the whole world that the Syrians stand united against terrorist organizations, according to the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper.

The paper indicated that the Syrian army recaptured the surrounding areas of al-Mhemdeyeh and Beit Nayem towns in the Eastern Ghouta of Damascus from the militias of the ‘al-Rahman’ legion and the al-Nusra Front.

Since May 12th 2016, around 1680 persons have completed military training courses in Hasaka, Daraa and Damascus countryside in order to backthe Syrian army in defending Syria.
