60 years of  Syrian history in 60 minutes…… a documentary  of rare recordings from the Latin Church in Damascus

The Damascus History Foundation presented a lecture and a documentary by Dr. Sami Moubayed entitled ” 60 Years of Syrian History in 60 Minutes” in the halls of the Latin Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Damascus.

The documentary presentation included rare video recordings about Syrian’s modern history in the period from 1915 until 1975, compiled in the form of a sixty minutes documentary film that includes the most prominent historical stations that Syria went through at all levels.

The show included real live scenes of many local and international figures and events that took place during that period in addition to many areas, landmarks, and markets of Damascus.

In a statement to SANA, historian and researcher Dr. Sami Moubayed, Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Damascus History Foundation said : This is the third participation of the foundation in showing its film “Syrian Anecdotes” in the Syrian churches which reflects its interest in cultural and intellectual activities, and what distinguished today’s show is that the invitation was available to everyone.

Dr. Moubayed explained that the recordings are not circulated or published, and their source is the University of Southern California. They were collected according to a chronological sequence so that they appear in a consistent and expressive manner showing the historical era of Syria during the aforementioned period.
