550 charities in  Damascus and its countryside appeal for lifting the western sanctions imposed on Syria

During a press conference on Thursday, the Federation of Charitable Societies in Damascus launched a humanitarian appeal to lift the western blockade imposed on Syria.

550 charities in Damascus and its countryside called on the international Community to end the unilateral coercive sanctions against Syria in order to deliver aid to those affected by the earthquake.

”Since the first moments of the earthquake, an operation room was established and the required need reliefs were recorded in the various affected governorates,” The Head of the Federation of Charitable Societies in Damascus and its countryside Saria Al-Sirwan said during a press conference. She pointed out that the volume of the aid that has been sent has reached to more than 200 tons of various kinds of food as well as medical and relief aid.

Al-Sirwan stressed that the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people have significant impact on the humanitarian response to the earthquake disaster
