Foreign-backed terror war being waged on Syria has destroyed 52 hospitals and 637 health units, according to the state-run ‘Tishreen’ newspaper.
The paper quoted Director of International Planning and Cooperation at the Ministry of Health Dr. Ahmad al-Ebido as saying: “The number of public hospitals, which were destroyed, vandalized and robbed, during the terror war on the country, has reached up to 52 out of 98. While the number health units, clinics and medical points that were damaged by terrorism hit 637 out of 1825.”
“Last year, hospitals and health units affiliated to the Ministry of Health offered 32.000.000 health services ,” he added, indicating that the offered health services reached during the first half of this year more than half of the last year’s services.
On his part, Director of Emergency Department at the ministry Dr. Tawfiq Hsab told the paper that health sector lost 313 ambulances out of 680 during the terror war on Syrian people.
“The ministry seeks to offer medical services despite obstacles that face getting medical equipment,” he asserted, pointing out that hospitals and health directorates in provinces are being provided by medical equipment in accordance with annual plan and through cooperation with international organizations.
Director of Medical Engineering and Repair Eng. Mohammad Shammat underlined that local experts repair medical equipment inside hospitals and health centers. “A lot of world medical companies that have a high techniques have stopped exporting their products to our country because of the unjust economic sanctions imposed on Syrian people.”
While Director of Primary Healthcare Dr. Fadi al-Qessis said that the ministry of health launched around 21 national vaccination campaigns to eradicate poliomyelitis and pressed ahead with developing children’s clinics through several programs related to cure diarrhea, Respiratory diseases and Iodine deficiency.
He stressed that Syria is still a developed country at the nutrition level.
Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged against Syria targeting its army, people, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.
