June 26, 1974, the day when the Syrian flag was hoisted over the city of Quneitra after liberating it from the Israeli occupation, has been a great day in Syria’s history that the Syrians will never forget, the People’s Assembly (PA) has stressed.
In a statement on Saturday marking the 48th anniversary of hoisting the Syrian flag over Quneitra by late leader Hafez Al-Assad, the PA said that this historical day culminated the heroic deeds and sacrifices of the Syrian army in its battle to expel the Zionist enemy from the steadfast city of Quneitra, which was exposed to massive destruction during the occupation.
The Zionist entity left no house, school, worshipping place or hospital in the city without destruction before its withdrawal and witnesses to its acts of destruction can be seen in the city until now, the PA added.
The PA clarified that these savage destructive acts prompted the United Nations General Assembly to issue several resolutions condemning the criminal acts committed by the occupation authorities against Quneitra city in blatant violation of all international norms and conventions as well as human rights.
The people’s Assembly reiterated that every inch of the Syrian Golan is an integral part of the Syrian territory, affirming that what Syria has faced over the past ten years has been a global conspiracy funded and empowered by the forces of evil, terrorism and aggression supported by western and Zionist colonialist forces, foremost of which is the United States.
The PA pointed out that “the battle with these arrogant colonialist forces will continue until we restore all our usurped rights.”
