443 students compete in the second stage of the Junior Science Olympiad 2023 in Physics and Chemistry

Damascus – 443 students from the 7^th and 8^th grade of basic education competed on Saturday in the Physics and Chemistry tests conducted simultaneously in different Syrian governorates within the framework of the second stage of the Junior Science Olympiad 2023, which is held by the Syrian Distinction and Creativity Agency.

The tests included questions that aimed at assessing the students’ knowledge and skills in critical thinking.

According to Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad Leen Qasem, the contestants are from different Syrian governorates and they qualified for this stage after passing the first stage tests. She pointed out that the winners in the second stage tests in mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry will qualify for the final qualifiers due to be held next August.

It is to be noted that the Junior Science Olympiad was launched this year in a new system that aims at providing an opportunity for students from the 5^th and 6^th grades to participate in the competitions, as this Olympiad was confined during the past two year to the students of the 7^th and 8^th grades.
