DAMASCUS, (ST)-With complete support and cooperation by the Syrian government, the General Commission for the Arab Palestinian Refugees and the UN Relief and Work Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) managed on Friday and Saturday to distribute relief assistance to the people besieged by the armed terrorist groups in al-Yarmouk Camp in Damascus.
Ali Mustafa, Director General of the Commission, said in statement to SANA that the commission and the UNRWA distributed 441 food parcels in addition to bread and food supplements to the besieged people in the camp. The process was done in Palestine Street near al-Yarmouk municipality.
According to Mustafa, the number of food parcels, which were distributed so-far after the process was resumed on March 5th, 2015, has become 4803.
More than 60.8 food parcels and 11.6 health care kits have been distributed since January 1st, 2014, he said.
Mustafa pointed out that the health checking point of the UNRWA and the Palestinian Red Crescent Organization is keen on treating the patients and providing necessary medicine. It managed to ensure the exit of 53 patients from the camp as to be treated in Damascus hospitals.
