The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has confirmed the voluntary return of 43,704 Syrian refugees from Jordan to their homeland between December 8 and February 22. UNHCR data showed that the returnees were distributed according to age groups and gender, with the number of males reaching 23,867, while the number of females reached 19,837, according to the Jordanian TV channel Al-Mamlaka.
According to the data, the returnees were residing in several Jordanian governorates before their return to Syria, where the percentages were distributed to Amman 10,560, Arbid 10,172, Mafraq 7,479, and 8,345 refugees from other regions, in addition to 4,594 refugees in Zaatari camp and 2,393 refugees from Al-Azraq camp, while smaller numbers were recorded in the Emirati-Jordanian camp.
Earlier, the Jordanian Interior Ministry announced that 42,675 Syrians, including 7,117 refugees, have left Jordan through the Jaber border crossing since the fall of the Assad regime.
