36 people killed in floods in Pakistan

Islamabad (ST): At least 36 people have died in floods caused by monsoon rains in the past 24 hours in Pakistan.

Xinhua quoted the National Disaster Management Authority as saying yesterday that at least 15 children and 6 women lost their lives in separate incidents related to the floods, noting that the southern province of Sindh was the worst affected, with 35 people killed.

The authority indicated that the floods destroyed 26,652 houses and caused the death of 1,521 heads of livestock in different regions of Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that the total number of deaths in Pakistan due to monsoon rains and floods this season has risen to about 1391 dead and 12,722 injured.
