Hasakah (ST) – The area of land cultivated with the irrigated and rain-fed lentil crop for the current season in Al-Hasakah Governorate has reached about 32 thousand hectares, distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.
Head of the Plant Production Department in the Agricultural Directorate, Eng. Jalal Bilal, stated that the manual and mechanical harvesting of the lentil crop, which began about two weeks ago, ended in the governorate, as the average production per hectare of the crop reached about 1,000 kilograms. He indicated that the farmers, during the coming period, will sell their crops in the local markets which will provide the needs of the people of the province.
According to the Directorate of Agriculture in Al-Hasakah Governorate, the area cultivated with rain-fed lentils for the current season amounted to 30,700 hectares, and the irrigated lentil crop is 1,800 hectares.
