30 teams from several governorates competed today in the seventh annual Syrian ARC7 Robot Championship, which was held by the SYRA Robot Academy for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and the Lebanese Kalimat Association for Robot Education in cooperation with the General Sports Federation and a number of scientific bodies, civil associations and economic activities, at Al-Jalaa Sports Hall in Damascus.
The participating teams represent the robot clubs at the National Center for the Distinguished and a number of specialized training centers in the field of robotics in the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, Homs, Aleppo and Lattakia.
In a statement to SANA, tournament director Dr. Muhib Al-Naqari noted that the tournament which is being held for the 7th year is part of the Arab Regional Robot Championship for all ages. It is organized with the aim of developing the experiences of children and youth in this field to acquire teamwork skills and scientific and technological knowledge, thus enabling the distinguished to install and design advanced robots that can become a large industrial enterprise in the future.
Al-Naqari pointed out that most of the participating teams will be honored, similar to the international competitions, where the first-place teams will win the first-place cup in each competition, and the rest of the teams, according to the results, will either receive a silver or bronze medal.
Samih Jaber, director of the Lebanese KalimatAssociation for Robot Education, pointed out that the tournament aims to support young people, develop the spirit of innovation in different age groups, and provide them with capabilities to show their energies and capabilities in the world of programming, robotics and technology.
A number of children and youth expressed their happiness in participating because it fulfills their ambition to learn robotics and programming, make discoveries in this field, develop their skills and exchange experiences among the participants. The participants said that they aspire to participate in the International Olympiad for Robotics and achieve advanced positions.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian annual robot tournament has achieved advanced positions at the national and regional levels and is one of the largest Arab championships in robot competitions.
