3 thousand dunums to be reclaimed in Daraa

The Daraa Branch of Land Reclamation and Development of Fruitful Afforestation Projects has started implementing its plan for the current year, which includes the reclamation of 3,000 dunums of land for the benefit of farmers in different regions of Daraa governorate.

Engineer Khaled Al-Khaled, the branch manager, told SANA reporter that the implementation of the plan started from a site in the city of Sheikh Maskin in Daraa countryside, indicating that this year the branch will reclaim 1,000 dunums for afforestation operations and 2,000 dunums for crop cultivation.

He stated that the purpose of reclamation is to expand the area of agricultural lands, and to include reclaimed lands in actual agricultural investment.

He pointed out that the branch is implementing its plan through its heavy machinery, which numbered 5 bulldozers and 2 trucks.

Last year, the branch reclaimed 2,400 dunams for the benefit of afforestation and crop cultivation out of the plan’s 3,000 dunams.
