3 migrants killed and others missing as a result of the sinking of 3 boats off Tunisia

Tunisia (ST): The Tunisian authorities announced the death of three migrants and the loss of others as a result of the sinking of three boats off the coast of the country.

The Tunisian newspaper, Al-Shorouk, quoted Fawzi Al-Masmoudi, a judge at the Sfax Court, as saying yesterday: “The boats sank while the migrants were trying to cross the Mediterranean to Italy.Three people died and at least 12 others are missing.”

Al-Masmoudi added: The Tunisian Coast Guard managed to rescue 152 others off the coast of the city of Sfax in southern Tunisia.

In recent months, hundreds of people have drowned off the Tunisian coast, as attempts to cross from Tunisia and Libya towards Italy have increased.
