279 Palestinian prisoners continue their hunger strike

279 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails continue their open hunger strike in protest against Israel’s continued crimes against the prisoners.

Wafa news agency quoted the Palestinian Prisoners and Released Affairs Commission as saying that 279 prisoners are continuing their strike, the longest duration are, Kayed al-Fasfous, who has been on strike for 99 days, Miqdad al-Qawasma for 92 days, Alaa al-Araj for 75 days, Hisham Abu Hawash for 66 days, Shadi Abu Aker for 58 days, and Ayyad al-Harimi for 29 days. The Commission  noted that their health conditions are difficult and pose a threat to their lives.

The Commission pointed out that three female prisoners continued their strike for the fifth day, in addition to 270 prisoners who continued their strike for the ninth consecutive day, rejecting the violations and arbitrary practices of the occupation against them. The Commission indicated that the number of striking prisoners is likely to increase in the coming days.

About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners face harsh detention conditions, 600 of whom need urgent medical intervention.
