An exhibition of oriental crafts and hand-made work was opened on Saturday at Aram Club art gallery in the Plastic Artist Union Branch in Sweida governorate under the title “Creativity without Limits”.
The 5-day exhibition was held by the Oriental Crafts Association affiliated to the Sweida branch of Craftsmen Union.
27 producers and craftsmen who run micro-sized enterprise are displaying their works which include woolen handicrafts, embroideries, textiles, heritage tools, antiques, wooden sculptures, accessories and local food products.
Head of the General Union of Craftsmen Naji Al-Haddawi told a SANA reporter that the exhibition comes within the Union’s work plan to support craftsmen and preserve the popular heritage, which mirrors the Syrian civilization, and comes in line with the Union’s approach to establish craft incubators for training on producing traditional and heritage crafts and preserving their originality.
For her part, Head of the Oriental Crafts Association in Sweida Samira Saraya said that this is the association’s first exhibition after it has launched its work this year, stressing the exhibition’s importance for introducing the work of craftsmen, highlighting their capabilities, motivating them and supporting their works.
