230 young volunteers rehabilitated main area in Damascus

Over 230 young volunteers have taken part in the campaign of rehabilitating the area of al-Assad bridge in the heart of Damascus.

The four-day campaign which was launched by the team of ‘Damascus 2020’ project on October 11th in cooperation with Ministry of Tourism included coloring the columns of the bridge, planting shrubs and cleaning the Barada river channel.

 

It comes within the activities of world tourism day, according to the official news agency (SANA), which quoted Director of Public Relations in the project Mr. Zakareya Abo Samir as saying that the team work on showing the beauty of civilization in Damascus.

The volunteer, Firasa, said that governmental and civil efforts have been exerted in cooperation with young groups to disseminate the culture of protecting environment and the beauty of public places.

While the volunteer, Alia, underlined the importance of holding such campaigns to show that cleanliness is everybody’s responsibility.
