Education Ministry, Norwegian Refugee Council discuss “better education” program

A delegation from the Ministry of Education discussed with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) the Guide to Support Student Recovery in Emergencies, as part of the “Better Education” program.

During a meeting held at the ministry building in Damascus, the two sides discussed the details of the guide and the amendments submitted by the Curriculum Directorate, in preparation for its approval and distribution in Syrian schools, and working with its content.

The Director of Planning and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, Youssef Annan clarified that the guide includes three levels, the first is comprehensive for all students, and aims to help them learn in better ways, and the second focuses on the academic aspect, and does not include all students.

Annan added: The guide is currently being applied experimentally, with training of teaching staff on it in several schools, with the aim of generalizing it to the rest of the schools, after evaluating the results.
