211 Iraqi writers, artists, poets and journalists call for breaking the unjust Western blockade imposed on Syria
Baghdad, (ST) – 211 Iraqi writers, poets, artists and journalists have called on the Iraqi government to break the unjust Western blockade imposed on Syria.
In a statement addressing the Iraqi President, the Prime Minister and the Parliament Speaker, the elite personalities said that the continuous international terrorist aggression against brotherly Syria through the unjust and unfair siege, which targets the citizens’ livrlihood, medicine, agriculture and raw materials for industry, has exacerbated the suffering of the Syrian people.
“The theft of Syria’s oil by the fascist American occupation forces and its smuggling through Iraqi lands to Turkey, Europe and the Zionist entity, preventing the arrival of oil supplies to Syria’s ports, has also exacerbated the suffering of our people in Syria this winter, “the statement added .
The signatories on the statement demanded that Syria be supplied with crude oil and wheat quickly and urgently, break the unjust siege imposed on it, and prevent the American occupation forces from smuggling Syrian oil and wheat through Iraqi territory.
The coordinator of the Iraqi campaign to break the siege on Syria and the head of the Iraqi People’s Committee for Supporting Syria and the Resistance, the writer and media figure Abd Al-Ridha Al-Hamid, said in a statement to SANA reporter in Baghdad that this campaign comes as a fulfillment of the great debt of Syria among all Iraqis, as Syria received all the Iraqis’ migrations to it in various political eras and dealt with them, like the Syrians.
“Syrians shared with Iraqis both the loaf of bread and the pill, so no Iraqi in Syria went hungry, was not humiliated, was not miserable, was not treated as a stranger, the Syrian state described the Iraqis as guests”, Al-Hamid said.
Al-Hamid added that Syria and Iraq are one objective, human, historical, geographical and cultural unit, and loyalty to the owner of the beautiful precedent is one of the most important qualities of manhood and one of its highest meanings.”
Al-Hamid pointed out that the Iraqi campaign to break the siege on Syria started a political, public and field movement to achieve its goals.
