1st Forum of Traditional Handicrafts Launched

DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Ministry of Tourism recently launched the first forum of traditional handicrafts in Takiya Suleimaniyain Damascus. The forum and will continue until next Thursday.

The Minister of Tourism Eng. Bisher Yaziji said in a press statement, “The Syrian traditional crafts are popular abroad because of its beauty.”

He called the owners of traditional crafts to register their data at the Ministry of Tourism for documentation and development of products pointing to “the ministry’s intention to establish a temporary and permanent traditional markets in coordination with the provinces to ensure the disposal of products,” as well as new ways to promote, including e-Promotion and enhance the facilities that granted to artisans to export hand craft products.

Craftsmen from all provinces are participating in the forum. It includes products that made in a distinctive artistic manner ranging from porcelain accessories, industry rugs, cosmetics, wax, eastern embroideries, wood works, mosaic, carving, soap industry, ropes and products made of recycling of used fabrics, carving on wood and basalt.
