1st Exhibition to Promote Syrian Products and Exports in Damascus

Damascus, (ST) –In cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade,the Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF) Unionopened the 1st exhibition for export and its mechanisms at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.The event was attended byan Iraqi delegation of 200 tradesmen and industrialists.

The exhibition which aims at enhancing the Syrian local industry and exports displayed products by 100 Syrian industrialists and producers from various sectors including textile, agriculture, finance, chemistry, transportation, energy, technology and packaging.

 

 The three -day event will also witnessed holding lectures and meetings between Syrian and Iraqi producers, industrialists and tradesmen to sign agreements on exporting Syrian products to the Iraqi markets.

 Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Adib Mayaleh highly appreciated the role of Syrian industrialists who stayed steadfast and continued production despite the sabotage acts backed by the US and Turkey.

 He indicated that the wide participation of Iraqi businessmen proves the determination of Syrian and Iraqi sides to open crossings and restore the economic, trade and industrial relations between the two countries, adding that the exhibition is an example on the steadfastness of the Syrian economy and efforts exerted to keep the wheel of production ongoing.

 The minister called for providing all facilities and necessary support to the Syrian producers who insisted continuing work in small workshops after the destruction of their plants.

 For his part, Chairman of the Iraqi Federation of Chambers of Commerce, head the Iraqi delegation, Jaafar Al-Hamadani, said that the Iraqi participation aims at moving the sustainable development processforward in both countries, strengthening economic relations and opening border crossings to facilitate trade between the two parties.

 For his part, Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad Sattam al-Dandah confirmed the importance of holding meetings between the Syrian and Iraqi businessmen to be aware  on the Syrian products and to discuss the possibility of exporting these products to the Iraqi markets, adding that visits will be organized to overcome obstacles and promote trade exchange between the two states.
