1st Syrian-Iraqi Conference on Quality Assurance and Control in Homs
Homs, (ST)-With the aim of strengthening scientific cooperation relations and exchanging knowledge on quality of laboratories between Syria and Iraq, the Syrian province of Homs hosts the 1st Syrian-Iraqi Conference on quality titled “QA /QC, Testing and Inspection and Accreditation of Laboratories according to ISO /MSS-GLP / FDA standards”.
The event, which was opened on Sunday, was organized by the Arab Quality Makers in collaboration with Homs Chamber of Industry, the Ministry of Industry and the Product Management Development Center.
The conference, which is the first of its kind, aims at introducing QA/QC (Quality Assurance/ Quality Control) methods and at reaching the level of internationally accredited laboratories for Syrian regionally competitive products and services .
The most important topics that will be emphasized in the 4-day conference are : the definition of the latest international standards and Arab expertise in the fields of testing and inspection, QA/QC, the definition of quality management systems in accordance with ISO standards and international FDA good practices to provide the opportunity to enhance the ability of Syrian and Iraqi companies to comply with the implementation of standards and certificates of quality management systems and accreditation in accordance with international ISO standards.
The conference stresses the necessity of strengthening Syria’s position as an Arab incubator for investment and reconstruction projects and of helping industrial, oil, medical, engineering and university activities and installations enter the world of leading quality control and enhance the culture of scientific performance and institutional modernization.
Among other important themes to be discussed during the conference are explaining the international standard ISO 15198 – ISO 17025 – ISO 17020, encouraging decision-makers to increase their interest in international quality systems and urging the Ministry of Higher Education to impose international standards in university curricula to raise awareness and achieve the desired benefit for university students.
In a press statement, the Arab Quality Makers stressed that the segments that are addressed in this conference are primarily: members of laboratory bodies, laboratory and calibration officials in all sectors, workers in educational laboratories, all companies and laboratories from the public and private sectors working in the field of medicines and food, researchers and university graduates and students of medicine, pharmacy, engineering, health science and chemistry.
Representatives of a number of Syrian public and private sectors’, ministries, institutions and unions are taking part in the conference.
